How can you hear God? You actually can. The Bible says that man should not live by bread alone but by hearing the voice of the Lord. It is not only in reading the Bible that you can hear God. It is good to read the Bible everyday but you also need to hear God’s voice.
John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear my voice; I know them and they follow me.” You need to believe that you will hear from God if you really want to hear from Him. John 12:28-30 says, “Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again. The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine.” The voice that was heard was not for Jesus alone but for everybody present. But other people rationalize and do not believe. In Psychology, it is believed that people only see what they want to see. It is the same with hearing God. There could be a loud crash of thunder and it may be God speaking but you rationalize and say that it is only thunder.
Some people devalue the voice of God. If He does, in any way, it is very important. The book of Daniel is a very important book in the Bible. It is used for interpretation, but it was written through dreams only. God can speak to you through many ways.
Amidst all of the things happening, you need to discern God. Not everything is Him speaking. And when He speaks, it will be a voice of love because He is love. 1 Corinthians 13 talks about what love is. And that is how God speaks. If you speak and prophesy and it is not out of love, question those words.
There are different ingredients of visions. Revelation is what you hear from God. Interpretation is what it means. Application is how you apply the word of God.
There are also different kinds of visions. Open vision is when your eyes are open and you can see something. Closed vision is when your eyes are closed and you see a picture in your mind. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you can prophesy, the Bible says. You need to also ask the Lord to be able to hear Him. Ask, believe and then you will receive. Also, it is ok to make mistakes. Trance vision is when you are in one certain place and you feel like you are in another place.
One time, Peter told Jesus that He is the Son of the Living God. And Jesus said, man did not tell you that, but my Father did. Peter thought it was simply his own thoughts because it sounds like him. Remember that not all of your thoughts are your own. Sometimes, it is God. And sometimes, it is the enemy. So you should learn how to discern which is which.
God can open many things and many senses. You have to believe because nothing is impossible with God.
