In the story of Abraham, God made a covenant with Him. God promised Abraham that He will be a father of all nations and that he will be blessed as well as he will be a blessing to others. After 30 years, God fulfilled His promise and gave Abraham and Sarah a Son named, Isaac. God was blessing Abraham and his family all their lives, but Abraham has one concern, Isaac that is 40 years old then still have no wife, and no children to continue the line. And so Abraham asked his servant to find a woman back in their hometown to be Isaac’s wife. He told the servant to never choose a Canaanite woman for Noah curses Canaanites and Isaac is a blessed child. The servant travels back to Abraham’s country and there he seeks for a woman that will be his master's wife. The servant prayed with all his heart by the time he gets to rest beside a well in the town, he said to the Lord, “LORD, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. 13 See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.14 May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this, I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.” And before he had finished his prayer, Rebekah, the granddaughter of Abraham’s sibling came out to draw water. So the servant asked if he could drink from her jar, Rebekah said yes and went back to get more for the servant’s camel. The servant watched Rebekah closely so he can learn if God has answered his prayer and made his journey successful. When he knew that Rebekah was God-sent for his master, he bowed again to give thanks to the Lord saying, “Praise be to the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.”

The story of servant finding a wife for his master, Isaac is more of a story of a servant who has his loyalty, trust, and faith in the Lord’s provision. Here are some points that we can consider in time we praying for something:

1. Get Inspiration – whenever we want something, we must have an inspiration for gaining it. Most of the prayers are not yet answered because they are not inspired. It can be inspired by an advice or orders, or something that will benefit not only yourself but other people as well; we should also take note that it should never be from our selfish desires. It’s God’s will that will give you the faith that what you’re praying for will come true.

“He said to the senior servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh. 3 i want you to swear by the lord, the god of heaven and the god of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, 4 but will go to my  country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.”

2. Pray Intensely – Pray for everything, every time and with all your heart.

Praying intensely shows God how much you want something. But what does praying intensely mean? Praying intensely means praying with everything about anything every time continuously in faith.

o    Pray intensely with everything – we are all guilty of praying with a shallow intent of reaching God. We are more concerned about our seatmate that we sometimes do a quick hurried prayer. This kind of talking to God is not what He wants. He wants us to pray and reach to Him by praying intensely with everything. Giving our all attention, surrendering everything around us and focusing only to Him.

o    Pray intensely about anything – some of us pray because they are down and hopeless but praying should not be our last resort in everything. God wants us to pray for everything about us, may it be for our needs in life, for a peaceful heart or anything that concerns us and to those around us. God wants us to realize that praying should not only be done when everything seems to be crashing but praying should be our first option before anything.

o    Pray intensely every time – There’s nothing more calming than praying and knowing that you are really talking your heart out to God. It is what we need in a world full of desperation and agony. God wants us to pray intensely every time so that we would know He is there and ready to listen. We just need to keep on praying with all our heart.

o    Pray intensely continuously – God loves those who always call out to Him, those who are persistent on talking with Him. He’s not like us, humans, who ditch people once they get annoyed. He wants us to be persistent on praying until He sees that we are worthy to be answered.

o    Pray intensely in faith – God always answers our prayers, it’s either yes, no or wait. So for us who are reaching God’s answer, we must keep our faith in receiving it. We cannot pray to God for something to happen but our hearts say otherwise. Our trust and faith must fuel our prayers and surely God will answer us as long as it is in line with His will.

3. Work hard – for we cannot expect something we pray for to happen if we lack initiative. For example, we want to have a job to sustain our needs but we are not doing something to have one. God wants us to pray for it, but also to work hard for it. In this way, He will see that we really want what we are praying for.

4. Verify answer – when you receive an answer to your prayers, verify that answer. Ask God, “is this really Your answer to my prayers?” because we must be wary of deceiving and cheap answers that the world may offer. We should not settle for less because God wants to give us the best; so if something comes, verify if it is God who gave it or it is just another deceiving answer from the world.

5. Give Thanks – It is God who is answering your prayers and needs so all thanks and glory should be to Him. Like how we pray, we must give thanks in advance, during and once our prayers are answered. Whatever the result may be, we must give thanks to the Lord.
