The answer would definitely surprise you.

December has come and with it all the joys of Christmas, and it’s that time of the year again, where we see our family, friends, stockings hanging in the living room, and shouts of Merry Christmas to those who pass us in the streets.

But is this really Christmas?

For some people, Christmas brings sadness and pain because of the incomplete feeling they experience. Others feel that they need money in order to buy presents for their children, family and friends. A bountiful Christmas dinner may only be a wish for some people.

With the burden of buying gifts, sending greeting cards, decorating our homes, putting up lights, cooking, attending parties, and cleaning up afterward, we forget the genuine meaning of Christmas.

Christmas is a season of great joy and redemption. It is a time of His unconditional love for us, when He sent His begotten son to bring salvation to those who believe. Christ’s birth brought joy to the world. Wise men, Shepherds and the angels all shared the excitement of finding out about this amazing event. They knew from the start that this baby was not ordinary, as foretold by the prophets hundreds of years before. When the star stopped over Bethlehem to mark the way for those who were looking for the Messiah, history and time were never be the same.

The ultimate reason for Christmas is the love of God for everyone. Jesus loves us so much that he came to earth as a human so we could get to know him and learn to trust him and love him back. God became one of us so we could understand what he is really like.

It’s best to change your perspective of Christmas. We all focus on giving and receiving gifts. What if this time, we receive the love of God and give it back to those around us? Christmas will never be about money and material things. This is the year to invite Jesus into your heart. The joy and peace you will receive will last all year as you look to God for all your needs to be met.

Rejoice! Jesus is the REASON for this SEASON!
